Committed to Community Engagement

The Faculty supports the University’s commitment to serve and engage society to enhance economic, social, and cultural well-being.

The Faculty of Health and Social Development is dedicated to engaging professionals, academics, and community members with the aim to build strong relationships between communities and UBC. This strategy is a core of the faculty’s mission and foundational to excellent teaching, learning and research in our three schools. The Faculty actively seek out partnership opportunities with community organizations, not-for-profits, and academic institutions.

Collaborative Research

The Faculty of Health and Social Development encourages and supports research that connects communities and the university with a focus on building capacity. The faculty’s goal is to create and use new knowledge in ways that will positively influence the health and well-being of individuals, groups, and communities.

Practicum and Coop Placements

If your organization is involved mental and physical health or wellness and/or fitness, and you are interested in volunteers, we have engaged students who are keen to be placed with you. The Faculty of Health and Social Development’s priority is to work with community partners to lead together in stimulating action for positive change. Our faculty connects a network of health professionals in the Okanagan by taking the learning out of the classroom, and into the community.
