Physical activity in children with congenital heart disease: the times they are a-changin

Christine is a Research Associate at the Children’s Heart Centre, BC Children’s Hospital and UBC. Her research interests center on physical activity and health in children, with a particular focus on measurement using state-of-the-art technologies. Between 2011-2015, Christine trained as a post-doctoral fellow at the Centre for Hip Health & Mobility, UBC, under the supervision of Drs. Heather McKay and Meghan Winters. Christine obtained her PhD in 2010 from the University of Essex, UK.

Her current work is focused on children with congenital heart disease- a population at increased cardiovascular risk which is commonly subjected to dogmatic physical activity restrictions. In this context, she currently explores what role wearable trackers can have in evaluating and promoting physical activity in these children.
